Lethbridge, AB - The Oil Kings will look to hold top spot in the Eastern Conference tonight as they make the trek down Highway 2 to take on the Hurricanes. This past weekend Henrik Samuelsson led the way with his first career WHL hat trick as the Oil Kings cruised to a 6-2 victory over the Wheat Kings on New Year's Eve. The Oil Kings have a record to 25-8-2-3 on the season, good enough for a one point lead over the Hitmen atop the WHL Eastern Conference standings. Edmonton was ranked 6th overall in this week's BMO Mastercard CHL Top Ten.

Samuelsson is a Phoenix Coyotes 2012 1st round draft pick and is now third in team scoring with 45 points. He leads the team with 22 goals an his three shorthanded markers tie him for the WHL lead. Last year, Samuelsson posted 7 goals, 16 assists and a +18 rating in 28 WHL regular season games. He scored 4 goals & 10 assists in Edmonton's run to the WHL Championship and capped his year by leading the Oil Kings in scoring at the Memorial Cup and being named a tournament all-star.

Goaltender Laurent Brossoit is back to form in ‘12-13 with a 16-4-2-3 record, a 2.49 GAA and a 0.907 save %. “LB” had a strong showing at the Subway Super Series vs Team Russia with a 30 save shut out in game 5 and was one of two Oil Kings selected to attend Team Canada U20 Selection camp in December. Brossoit has also matched his high from last season with 3 assists this year. His counterpart Tristan Jarry is 9-4-0-0 with a 1.93 GAA and a 0.926 save percentage. He also posted the first two shutouts of his WHL career with a 20 saves over Lethbridge on September 26th and 20 saves over Medicine Hat on November 30th.

Game time from the ENMAX Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta is set for 7:00 p.m. All games this season will be broadcast live on the TEAM 1260 and streamed live at WHL.ca.

The defending WHL Champions make their return to Rexall Place on Saturday, January 5th.
