Edmonton, AB - The Oil Kings afternoon matchup today against the Red Deer Rebels will mark the launch of Oil Kings Family Fun SUN Days presented by Mott's Fruitsations. The defending WHL Champions have one of the most family friendly schedules in the WHL with 28 weekend dates and 9 Sundays & Mondays with special early game times.
Family Fun SUN days at Rexall Place will include fun inflatables and carnival activities for the kids, new kids sized meal combos including a hamburger or hot dog, small fries and small pop for only $6. Plus there’ll be $2 popcorn. The very first Family Fun SUN day is today at 2:00 p.m. at Rexall Place. Moving forward, the balance of the Oil Kings Sunday home games will have family friendly start times of 4:00 p.m.
After meeting six times in the 2011-12 Regular Season - the Oil Kings won the season series over the Rebels with a 4-2-0-0 record. Over the past five seasons the Oil Kings have a 6-4-0-2 record against the Rebels within the friendly confines of Rexall Place. These teams met twice during the pre-season resulting in a 2-0-0-0 record for the Oil Kings. Edmonton took a 5-3 win at the Oil Kings pre-season invitational in St.Albert and a 2-1 OT win in Lacombe.
