GAME DAY: Oil Kings Take on Pats Tonight - Puck drop 6:30 P.M.
Regina, SK - Straight off their thrilling overtime win in Prince Albert the Oil Kings will continue their current road trip tonight in Regina. Edmonton is the hottest team in the Eastern Conference and will look to add to their WHL best nine game win streak. The Oil Kings overall record is 39-11-2-3 with a record of 16-6-1-1 on the road. Over the past month the defending WHL Champions have built an 11 point lead over Calgary for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
This will be the third game of a five game road trip and the second of four games between the Pats and Oil Kings in 2012-13. In their only previous meeting this season the Oil Kings skated to an 8-1 win on December 16th at Rexall Place. In 2011-12 Edmonton had a disappointing record of 0-4-0-0 against the Battalion. The Pats were one of the only teams in the WHL to sweep the Oil Kings in the season series despite finishing 7th in the Eastern Conference.
Forward Michael St.Croix is third in the Oil Kings scoring race with 27 goals and 36 assists and is currently on a 10 game point scoring streak. St.Croix posted the second four goal game in modern franchise history against the Pats in that December 16th game. All four goals came on the power play. This summer he signed a three-year NHL entry-level contract with New York Rangers. In 2011-12, he led the team with 45 goals, 60 assists, 18 power play goals and 105 points, all Oil Kings club records. St.Croix has 118 goals and 173 assists in his Oil Kings career - also Oil Kings club records.
