Medicine Hat, AB - Dylan Wruck notched the game winner and Laurent Brossoit made 34 saves as the Oil Kings took a 4-2 win over the Tigers on Wednesday. The victory brings the Oil Kings record to 5-2-0-1 on the season as they currently sit one point ahead of Calgary for first in the Central Division.

Edmonton had to lean on Brossoit early to kill off an early 5 on 3 Tigers power play. The Calgary Flames draft pick came up with a pair of huge saves early on to prevent giving up the first goal. The Kings made use of the momentum as rookie Brett Pollock notched his first WHL goal; slamming home a Cole Benson rebound.

The Oil Kings would not let up as Henrik Samuelsson was awarded for a relentless forecheck on the penalty kill. Samuelsson created a turnover in the offensive zone and put home a pretty backhand off the crossbar and in to make it a 2-0 game. Minutes later Dylan Wruck was in perfect position to put home a rebound off a Mason Geertsen shot to make it 3-0.

In the next period the Kings killed their second 5 on 3 power play of the night thanks once again to some saves from Brossoit. Captain Griffin Reinhart tallied on a big point shot during the Oil Kings second power play of the game. The Tabbies would answer with their only power play goal off the stick of Miles Koules. Medicine Hat added a second goal from Elgin Pearce off a bouncing puck that made the score 4-2.

The defending WHL Champs battled adversity to start the third as they successfully killed off their third and fourth 5 on 3 situations. Edmonton would finish the night 1 for 3 on the power play holding the Tigers to 1 for 9 with the man advantage.

Edmonton's next home game will be a showdown for first in the Central division on Friday, October 12th as the Battle of Alberta continues. The defending WHL Champions will welcome the Hitmen to Rexall Place for the second time this season. The Oil Kings will look to avenge a wild 6-5 overtime loss last weekend in Calgary. It's also Championship ring night as the team is giving away 1000 replica rings to the first 1000 fans. Remember the only way to guarantee one of these rings today is with the purchase of the all new 8 Ticket Flex Pack.
