Edmonton, AB - The Oil Kings will play their final game of 2012 at Rexall Place with a special New Year's Eve match up against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Puck drop is set for a special 6:00 p.m. start TONIGHT - Be sure to stick around immediately following the game for New Year's Eve fireworks!

Tonight's game will mark the first of four games between these two clubs this season. After meeting four times in the 2011-12 Regular Season - the Oil Kings won the season series over the Wheat Kings with a 3-1-0-0 record. These teams would then collide in the second round of the 2012 WHL Playoffs. The Oil Kings eliminated the Wheat Kings in four straight games as they would go on to win their first WHL Championship in the modern era.

The Oil Kings are without the services of several players and staff to the IIHF U20 World Juniors in Ufa, Russia as well as the U17 World Hockey Challenge in Quebec. Captain Griffin Reinhart became the second Oil Kings defenseman in the past two seasons to wear the Maple Leaf for the U20s as he is currently competing for Team Canada in Russia. Reinhart is joined by Latvian Edgars Kulda and Czech David Musil who are also competing in the tournament for their respective countries. Defenseman Dysin Mayo as well as Oil Kings Associate Coach Steve Hamilton and Oil Kings Head Athletic Therapist Brian Cheeseman are all serving for Team Pacific at the World U17 Hockey Challenge.

With these players away on international duty the Oil Kings have called up 2011 first round bantam pick Aaron Irving as well as 95-born defenseman Ben Carroll. Irving was selected 9th overall in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft and is a call up from Bonnyville of the AJHL while Carroll has been playing with the Cru in his hometown of Sherwood Park. Carroll has posted a pair of assists in two WHL games
