Prince George, BC – An up and down week has seen the Oil Kings knock off the number one ranked team in the WHL before losing their next game just 24 hours later. Edmonton will look to finish their current six game road trip off in style with a pair of big match ups Friday and Saturday against the Prince George Cougars.
Tonight will be the first of four regular season games between the Oil Kings and Cougars this season. Edmonton posted a 2-0-1-0 record against the Cougars last year with a 1-0-1-0 record in Prince George. In the last five seasons the Oil Kings have amassed an 8-4-1-1 record vs the Cougars.
Edmonton is led on the scoresheet by Michael St.Croix. St. Croix leads the Oil Kings scoring race with 25 points and is eighth in WHL scoring. He is also seventh in the league with seven power play goals on the Oil Kings fourth ranked power play. Despite their defeat on Wednesday the Oil Kings penalty kill lived up to it’s number one ranking holding the Rockets to 0 for 5 with the man advantage. The Kings penalty kill has not allowed a power play goal in their last four games going a perfect 21 for 21 over that span.
Puck drop is set for 8:00 p.m. MST for both games. All games this season will be broadcast live on the TEAM 1260 and streamed live at WHL.ca.
The Oil Kings will return to home ice at Rexall Place on Saturday, Nov. 17 as they host the Raiders for their third meeting of the 2012-13 season. Back by popular demand, the Oil Kings will once again give away 1,000 WHL Championship replica rings. All fans at the game will be eligible to receive a ring, since scratch-and-win tickets will be used to determine the winners.
