Red Deer, AB - Stephane Legault, T.J. Foster and Michael St.Croix led the way for the Oil Kings as they skated to a 6-1 win over the Rebels on Friday. With the victory the Oil Kings raised their record to 24-8-2-3 on the season as they took a three point lead over the Calgary Hitmen for first in the WHL Eastern Conference standings.

The Oil Kings came out hard looking to avenge a tough loss on home ice Thursday. Rookie call up Ben Carroll put a point shot through traffic producing a juicy rebound for Legault. The Edmonton native made no mistake as he tapped in his fourth of the season to open the scoring two minutes into the first.

Edmonton would not let up as minutes later Foster sniped a shot off the crossbar and in for his 18th of the season. Foster took a feed from St.Croix and snapped it home from the left side face off circle to give the Oil Kings the early 2-0 lead. Foster finished the night with a goal and two assists, leading all Oil Kings with three points.

St.Croix would make it a 3-0 Edmonton lead on the power play as he finished a nice tic-tac-toe passing play from Foster & Dylan Wruck with a wrist shot. Foster faked a shot from the point and fed the puck to Wruck who made the quick touch pass to St.Croix at the top of the slot. St.Croix continues to lead the Oil Kings scoring race with 48 points and leads the WHL with 14 power play goals.

The Oil Kings continued to dominate in the second with Henrik Samuelsson scoring the only goal of the period. Samuelsson took a feed on a 2 on 1 with Wruck and made a nice move on Red Deer goaltender Bolton Pouliot for his 18th of the season.

Travis Ewanyk made his prescence felt to end the second as he had a big open ice hit on Jesse Miller before taking on Cody Thiel in a fight. The Rebels would take the extra two minute penalty for instigating as the Oil Kings started the third period with the man advantage.

The Oil Kings stumbled out to the blocks in the final period as a turnover behind the net resulted in a Rebels goal. Red Deer's Joel Hamilton tallied the lone Rebel's score shorthanded just nine seconds into the final frame.

Despite a late third period penalty the Oil Kings managed to take back the momentum with a shorthanded goal of their own. Legault used his speed to create a breakaway opportunity and snipe his second of the game top shelf to stifle the Red Deer attack. Klarc Wilson would add the 6-1 goal minutes later to ice the game for the Oil Kings. Wilson's 4th of the season resulted in the second assist of the game for the rookie Carroll. Wruck would also finish the night with a pair of assists as five Oil Kings posted multi-point games.

Oil Kings goaltender Laurent Brossoit would post 29 saves on 30 shots in a first star performance. "LB" improved his record to 15-4-2-3 on the season. The Oil Kings out shot the Rebels 42-30 as the WHL's best power play was 1 for 2 on the night. Edmonton's league best penalty kill was a perfect 3 for 3.
