Oil Kings Rookie Camp Runs Thursday Through Sunday

Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Oil Kings begin their official preparations for the 2011-12 Western Hockey League season as they open their seven-day training camp on Thursday with rookie registration and fitness testing at Body By Bennett.

Following Thursday's registration and fitness testing, Rookie Camp on-ice sessions run Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Jubilee Rec Centre in Fort Saskatchewan. Approximately 80 players born in either 1995 or 1996 will be separated into four teams to practice and compete in a round-robin tournament. Oil Kings fans are invited to attend all on-ice sessions in Fort Saskatchewan.

Notable players attending this year's Rookie Camp include Oil Kings 2010 first-round draft picks, centre Curtis Lazar (2nd overall) and defenceman Mason Geertsen (18th overall). The team's 2011 first-round selection, defenceman Aaron Irving (9th overall), will also be in attendance.
