Oil Kings Rout Warriors 5-1 On Friday Night Hockey

Edmonton, AB - The Oil Kings skated to a convincing 5-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday night at Rexall Place. Twelve different Oil Kings found the score sheet with Captain Griffin Reinhart notching the game winning goal. The Oil Kings record improved to 15-5-2-2 on the year as they remain second in the WHL's Central division.
The Kings opened the scoring with a power play goal from Michael St.Croix midway through the first period. Dylan Wruck faked a shot and made a nice pass to St.Croix who put home his team leading 14th goal of the season. St.Croix ranks second in the WHL with eight power play goals while Wruck ranks second in the WHL with 13 power play assists.
Tanner Eberle notched the lone Moose Jaw goal six minutes into the second to make it 1-1. But the Oil Kings power play continued to light it up as Reinhart unloaded with a blast from the point that beat Warriors goaltender Justin Paulic. The Captain's third of the season helped the Kings to go 2 for 4 with the man advantage. Edmonton's power play has surged and currently leads the WHL at 28.1%. The league's number one ranked penalty kill held Moose Jaw to 0 for 1 on the night and has not allowed a power play goal in nine straight games.
Edmonton would start to pull away with a minute remaining in the second as TJ Foster finished off a nice play from St.Croix. St.Croix beat his man down low and threaded a pass to Foster who tipped it home for a 3-1 lead.
The Oil Kings finished things off in the third period with goals from Keegan Lowe and rookie Brandon Baddock. Ashton Sautner skated the puck up the wall and made a pretty backhand pass to a driving Baddock in the slot to make it 5-1. Goaltender Laurent Brossoit made 22 saves on the night to move his record to 11-2-2-2. Edmonton put together a solid 60 minute effort, out shooting the Warriors 40-23 on the night.
Next up the Oil Kings will look to close out their current four game home stand in style as they take on the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday night.
