Edmonton, AB - A trio of second period power play goals helped the Edmonton Oil Kings snap their two game losing streak with a convincing 4-1 win over the Saskatoon Blades. Michael St.Croix took home first star honours with the game winning goal and an assist. He leads all Oil Kings in 2012-13 scoring with eight points.

The Oil Kings had several chances in the first period including a breakaway by Dylan Wruck and a shot off the post by Curtis Lazar. A few big saves from Saskatoon goaltender Andrey Makarov kept things scoreless as Edmonton led in shots 10-4 at the period break.

Just over four minutes into the second TJ Foster drove the net and Travis Ewanyk hammered in a rebound for his 1st of the season. Minutes later St.Croix was on the receiving end of a very nice cross ice feed from Henrik Samuelsson for his fourth of the season. Samuelsson would finish the night with a pair of assists.

Dylan Wruck then announced his return to Rexall Place with authority as he ripped home a one timer from the point for Edmonton's third power play goal of the night. Wruck was playing in just his second game back from injury and gave Edmonton the 3-0 lead going into the third.

The Kings killed an early 5 on 3 power play in the final period thanks to some big saves by  goaltender Laurent Brossoit. Brossoit assisted on both of Edmonton's first two goals and would finish the night with 27 saves. Brandon Baddock buried the second goal of his WHL career with a top shelf shot to make it 4-0 before Saskatoon finally broke the shutout with a power play goal by Darren Dietz.

Brossoit's record improved to 3-1-0-0 on the season as the Oil Kings out shot the Blades 35-28. Edmonton's power play was an electric 3 for 5 on the night while holding the Blades to 1 for 9 with the man advantage. The Oil Kings have the second best penalty kill in the WHL with a lethal 90% kill percentage.
