Edmonton, AB - The Oil Kings notched four unanswered goals to complete a 4-2 win over the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday at Rexall Place. Rookie Edgars Kulda notched his first ever WHL goal for the game winner just six minutes into the third period.

The Kings were slow coming out of the gates as the Tigers took a 1-0 lead with a goal by Trevor Cox in the first minute the game. Edmonton found themselves in penalty trouble following a major for elbowing to rookie Stephen Shmoorkoff. Medicine Hat would capitalize with a goal from Curtis Valk but that would be the only goal of the five minute power play. The Tabbies carried the 2-0 lead into the second, leading in shots 10-8.

Curtis Lazar finally broke things open for the home side with a nice tip on a shot by Dylan Wruck. Lazar's seventh of the season came on the power play to make it a 2-1 game midway through the second. Oilers draft pick Mitch Moroz then tallied the equalizer with under five minutes to play in the frame. Keegan Lowe made a laser-like a pass to spring Moroz on the breakaway which he finished for his second of the season.

Kulda tallied on a shot that managed to handcuff Tigers goaltender and former Oil King Cam Lanigan. The 3-2 go ahead marker was Kulda's first WHL goal and sixth point. Kulda is a Latvian forward who was selected 38th overall in the first round of the 2012 CHL Import Draft.

Lazar would then add the insurance marker late in the third as he out worked the Tigers defense and tapped in his second of the night. Edmonton Goaltender Laurent Brossoit made 22 saves on the night to raise his record to 5-1-1-2. With the victory the Oil Kings record goes to 7-3-1-2 on the year as they take over first place in the WHL's Eastern Conference.
