Medicine Hat, AB – Goaltender Laurent Brossoit achieved his second shutout in the last 24 hours, as the Oil Kings took a 6-0 win over the Medicine Tigers on Saturday.  This victory is the Oil Kings’ ninth shutout of the season. They extend their current winning streak to eight wins in a row.  With this win, Edmonton now has an 11 point lead over the Calgary Hitmen for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Michael St.Croix and T.J. Foster led the way with a goal and an assist each; while Oilers draft pick Martin Gernat had a three point night. St.Croix extended his current point streak to nine games - the fourth longest in the WHL.  Ashton Sautner, Curtis Lazar, Henrik Samuelsson and Trevor Cheek tallied the other Edmonton goals.  The most prolific Oil King this season versus Medicine Hat has been Lazar. The Vernon, BC product racked up six goals and one assist in the six game season series.

Brossoit had 23 saves this game to raise his record to 26-6-2-3 this season. This is added to his own Oil Kings modern era franchise record of nine career shutouts.  The Oil Kings goaltenders have been difficult to beat with seven shutouts in their last 16 games.  Edmonton has held the opposition to two or fewer goals in 36 of their 53 games this season and has given up the least number of goals in the entire WHL.

The Oil Kings continue their five game road trip this week with a four game series in the East division.  It all starts Tuesday night as Edmonton goes head to head with the East division leading Prince Albert Raiders.  Game time from the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert is set for 6:00 p.m. MST.  All games this season will be broadcast live on the TEAM 1260 and streamed live at WHL.ca.

The Oil Kings will finally return to Rexall Place on Sunday, February 17th to take on the Victoria Royals.  It will be the final Family Fun Sunday of the season presented by Motts Fruitsations and the Edmonton Sun.  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.  Tickets are available at OILKINGS.CA, at the Rexall Place Box Office or at Ticketmaster outlets.  For more information on season seats or flex packs, call 780-414-GOAL (4625).  The Oil Kings 2012-13 season is presented by JLT, Insurance & Risk Management.
