Samuelsson invited to Team USA Camp
Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings are proud to congratulate forward Henrik Samuelsson on his invitation to the 2012 USA Hockey National Jr. Evaluation Camp. The native of Scottsdale, Arizona joined the Oil Kings from Modo in the Swedish Elite League this season and was an integral part of Edmonton's Championship run.
Samuelsson adjusted quickly back to the North American game posting seven goals, 16 assists and a plus-18 rating in 28 WHL regular season games. He then went on to score four goals and 10 assists during Edmonton's run to the WHL Championship. Samuelsson capped his year by leading the Oil Kings in scoring at the Memorial Cup and being named a tournament all-star.
Samuelsson is a 94-born 6'2 195 pound forward with U.S. citizenship who grew up in the United States playing in North America for most of his developmental years and as part of the U.S. National Development Program. Samuelsson has played for Team USA at the 2011 U17 World Hockey Challenge where he totaled 10 points in five games as well as the World U18 Hockey Championship. He is eligible for the 2012 NHL Draft and is the son of former NHL journeyman Ulf Samuelsson who also coached him in Modo.
46 players have been invited to take part in camp this August in Lake Placid, N.Y. The players will be auditioning for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2012-Jan. 5, 2013, in Ufa, Russia.
