St.Croix named WHL Player of The Month

Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Oil Kings are proud to congratulate 93-born forward Michael St. Croix as the WHL Player of the Month for December. St.Croix, a product Winnipeg, MB has proven himself to be one of the most skilled forwards in the WHL today. He has vaulted up to third in the WHL scoring race with 62 points, he is tied for 5th in the WHL with 24 goals tied for second in the WHL with 38 assists. St.croix has 18 multi point games this season and is averaging 1.59 points per game.
In the month of December, St. Croix posted an amazing 24 points with 8 goals, 16 assists, 4 PPGs and a plus 11 +/- rating in just 11 games. St.Croix had eight multipoint games including two four point nights as the Oil Kings posted a 9-1-0-1 record over that span. Some highlights include a two goal and two assist performance in an 8-3 victory over Eastern Conference rivals the Saskatoon Blades and another four point night in a 6-3 win over the Victoria Royals. He was also named WHL Player of the Week, for the week ending December 4.
St. Croix was selected by the New York Rangers in the 4th round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft 106th overall and is a focal point of an explosive Oil Kings offence. He was originally drafted in 2008 as Edmonton made him their first selection, fourth overall in the WHL Bantam Draft. Last year, St. Croix posted the Oil Kings single season modern franchise record with 48 assists and finished his season with a career high 75 points and a plus-28 plus minus rating.
St.Croix will be back in action tonight as the Oil Kings make their return to the friendly confines of Rexall Place tonight as they take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Oil Kings currently hold one of the best home records in the WHL at 16-3-0-0 and their loss on December 18th was their first at home since October 14th.
