Medicine Hat, AB - The led by two goal efforts from Rhett Rachinski and Dylan Wruck the Edmonton Oil Kings took the modern franchise's first ever win in the Medicine Hat Arena on Thursday night with a 6-2 romp of the Tigers. In a tight first period the Oil Kings fell behind early off a goal by Medicine Hat's Emerson Etem. But the Oil Kings, more then willing to play the run and gun style tallied later in the period as Tyler Maxwell put a puck towards the net that was tipped home by overage Rhett Rachinski. Then, with only 1:06 left in the first Dylan Wruck wound one up and ripped a laser top shelf for his 16th of the season to make it a 2-1 game going into the second.

A Tigers goal to tie the game midway through the second sparked the Oil Kings as they answered with a three goal outburst. The first off a rush by Captain Mark Pysyk in which he found Maxwell with a pretty feed as Maxwell buried his 22nd of the season for the eventual game winner. Maxwell would finish the night with a goal and two assists and now has 28 points in 19 games as an Oil King. Soon after Kristians Pelss made it a 4-2 game as he took an odd angle shot that trickled through Medicine Hat goaltender Tyler Bunz for Pelss' 16th of the season and third in as many games. This goal also gave newcomer Henrik Samuelsson his first WHL point with an assist. Wruck would then notch his second of the game on the power play with under 30 seconds to play in the period. Wruck would also have a three point night as he brought his season total to 57 points, good enough to move into a tie for ninth in the WHL scoring race.

The Oil Kings would score the only goal of the third period as Klarc Wilson sacrificed the body on a nice play to send Rachinski in on a breakaway for his second goal of the game. Laurent Brossoit would post 27 saves on the night as he scored his 24th win of the season, enough to move into a tie for second in the WHL.

The Oil Kings power play was 2 for 6 on the night while holding the Tigers to 0 for 6 win the man advantage. The win gives the Oil Kings a 27-10-1-4 record on the season for 59 points as they remain in sole possession of first in the WHL Eastern conference. For the fourth week in a row the Oil Kings were ranked in the Canadian Hockey League Top Ten rankings, this week - eighth in the CHL.

The Oil Kings next home game is THIS Saturday, January 14th as Griffin Reinhart and the Oil Kings play host to Max and Sam Reinhart and the Kootenay Ice! The other brother act coming that night will be the return of the Hanson Brothers from the Movie Slapshot!  There'll be a private meet and greet for the season seat holders before the game and an autograph signing on the main concourse from the second period until the end of the game! Don't miss your chance to meet these amazing hockey icons! Puck Drop is set for 7 PM at Rexall Place.
